Abstract

Currently, the Mekong Delta is one of the areas severely affected by climate change. Therefore, the requirement for the Mekong Delta is innovating the development model, renewing the production scale in order to be proactive and actively improve production value. In order to realize the goal of improving production value, it is necessary to establish regional linkages, thereby accelerating the linking process to create new strength of economic actors in the region, towards developing linkages with other regions. Regional linkages not only enhance competitive advantages but also create conditions for each localities to promote its specific economic potentials and advantages, improve people's living standards, and ensure national defense - security.

The research discusses the content of relevant documents, legal documents and regulations and multi-faceted scientific research works relating to the Mekong Delta region; thereby clarifying issues related to regional linkage coordination mechanism, goals of establishing and expanding regional linkage, current status of regional linkages, achieved results, limitations, inadequacies and causes of the remaining limitations and inadequacies. At the same time,  the research proposes solutions to help improve the regional coordination mechanism and promote regional linkages, towards sustainable development in the Mekong Delta region.
